Using this website

We want this site to work for everyone who comes to it, including people who browse with a keyboard, a screen reader, voice control, or a magnifier. If something here gets in your way, we want to know, and we will fix it.

Tell us about a problem

This is the important part of this page. If any part of this site is hard or impossible for you to use, contact us and say what happened. You do not need to know why it is happening or what it is called. “The booking button does nothing when I press enter” is a perfect bug report.

We will get back to you, and we will tell you what we can do and when. If a fix is going to take a while, we will offer you another way to get what you came for in the meantime, such as handling it over the phone or by email.

What has been done

This site was built with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as the working standard. In practice that means:

• Every page works with a keyboard alone, and the focused element is always visible.
• Text is real text, never a picture of text, so it can be read aloud, resized, or restyled.
• Color is never the only way information is conveyed, and text contrast is checked against the AA thresholds on every build.
• Images carry descriptions of what they show, and decorative images are marked so a screen reader skips them.
• Headings run in order and form an outline that can be navigated.
• Every form field has a label that stays visible while you type, and errors are described in words.
• Tap targets are large enough to hit on a phone.
• Animation is reduced automatically if your device asks for that.

Automated checks run against every page of this site before it is published, and they are treated as a floor rather than a result: automated tools catch roughly a third to a half of real problems, so pages are also checked by keyboard and with a screen reader.

Where this site may still fall short

No website is finished, and we would rather tell you where the gaps are likely to be than imply there are none:

• Documents, videos, maps, booking tools, and other services embedded from other companies are built by those companies, and our control over them is limited. If one of them is the barrier, tell us anyway and we will look for another way to get you served.
• Older material added before this site was rebuilt may not meet the same standard.
• Accessibility guidelines are broad and they change. Meeting them is ongoing work rather than a box that gets ticked once.

We are describing genuine effort here, not making a legal guarantee, and nothing on this page is a promise that the site meets any particular law or standard at all times. What we will promise is the part we control: if you report a barrier, we will take it seriously and work in good faith to remove it.
